Tell
your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering
itself. And no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its
dream.
– Paulo Coelho
So I bought a bike and now I am riding that bike. ALL the time! My body is changing shape and as Mike had hoped for, my mind is more focused on the goal. I'm watching what I eat (most of the time), drinking less, trying to sleep more, valuing my "rest days" like gold, talking to Wayne about nutrition, shopping for gear tho' not always buying it. Tomorrow I have to ride 40 miles again (I cycled to Slough last week). Today I did 12 miles in an hour, so I'm hoping this will be a whole lot faster as my average speed has been picking up. My biggest fear is of course - dying under a truck, or a bus, or a car, or a lorry, or a ..... (fill in the gap!) - hence the quote from Paulo Coelho. I'm also afraid of the pain that comes with training - it's the unknown, and your unknown capacity for coping with it all.
