79.8kgs mistress blobby
It has been a few weeks of cream teas, cake, baguettes and butter, and generally a bit too much comfort eating & drinking wine in the evenings to relax. Two responses really - keep pulling on the tight jeans to keep myself in check, or joining Weight Watchers. I think I'm going to plough on thru to mid January when I'm back from S Africa. Once that's behind me, I'll focus on weight.
Oh, and if I feel like I'm coping better with my life - it's nigh on impossible when you're depressed.

78kgs and going around
Fat Betty has had 2 good weeks. I've cut my alcohol intake during the week to zero. I'm trying really hard to reduce my fat intake - butter is my weakness. Oh, and cake. It's coming off slowly but that's probably the best way. I need a goal – a wedding would've been good. It's so much in your head. The mind is a tool.

78.8kgs
Fat Betty went to France for a holiday and then came home and couldn't give up the baguettes and butter. I've also taken down my meds to 20mgs a day which means I'm doing better. Keith, ever the optimist, said I shouldn't beat myself up about this weight thing - it's an indicator that things are going better and better. Hmmm... a little perspective. I still don't like 79kgs tho !

75.5kgs - steady on
I am still bobbing around a bit weight-wise, but I can see that it is mostly hormone related. Now I know when to weigh myself and report on it [wink]

75.9kgs yeah yeah
We're bobbing up and down at the moment. Can't seem to settle without a kitchen – some days are good, others are horribly bad, and I'm struggling to eat less bread. Bread is such an easy option, and up here in North London, you can buy 'cholla' (or what I'd call Kitka) almost anywhere.

76.8kgs
Heh heh... spoke too soon !
The antidepressants have been good, and I feel like I'm reclaiming my life :) unfortunately that also means reclaiming my appetite. Trying to do the right thing tho', but it's a challenge without a kitchen as it's easy to eat carbs (bread bread bread). I'm delighted however to announce that I've put on a lovely pair of white peddle-pushers that I bought in NZ and they now fit jolly nicely. Hurrah for that.

75.6kgs - nothing like depression to help you along
Yup, after all we've been through in the new house (and are still enduring), I have been diagnosed with depression. Upside ? I'm on antidepressants, and I find that they make me very calm, even when things are really awful. Downside ? Channeling the anger and frustration... where has it gone ? It's there, but it doesn't feel quite so razor-sharp.
I've just really lost interest in mealtimes. I haven't lost interest in cake, or wine, or chocolate, or an apple here and there. I just don't feel like eating most of the time. So I don't.
For a while (in late February) I was convinced I was still BLOBBOBETTY, weighing in at well over 80kgs, but then I got on the scale and saw that I'd lost nearly 4 kgs in as many weeks.
What's my secret - stress & depression - they can really shed a load.

82kgs
It's not coming off fast enough. I was more on the ball this past week and made a very real effort to eat the right things. The scales don't reflect that, and I'm not well, so I just feel depressed about it all. Thankfully, a friend, who I haven't seen in a month or more, said to me that she could see I'd lost weight. Small victories.

81.5kgs here we go ...
Fat Betty is going down, down, down.
A friend's invited me to work out with her and I'm being a good girl on the cake and biscuit front. I must be !

82.3kgs - starting again after baby
Fat Betty is back on the boat... time to get slimming. I'm trying to crack the whip over myself as I have quite a bit of weight to lose after the birth of young Calvin. Tsk tsk... it really ISN'T the easiest thing to do because when I'm breast-feeding I have an enormous hunger for carbohydrates. Sugar and carbs are so tantalising! Thankfully my desire to drink water (by the gallon) has returned, so my system is getting flushed - which ain't a bad thing.
I am quite keen to eat more vegetarian main courses. This may just be an age thing, but I feel like my body is struggling, as I get older, to process red-meat dishes. I would happily eat fruit salad every single day - it's the manufacture and the purchasing that takes too much time.
Exercise-wise, all I want to do is go for a jolly good run, or do some squats, lunges, crunches. I really need to make the time - focus the will. Big minus of C-sections is the belly that you're left with... where do you put it ? It just hangs over my jeans and I feel like a statistic from out of town (fat girls who live on butty rolls, or similar).
So here's to all these good things, and may I hit it into the outfield !

75kgs - throwing it all away
What can I say ? What can I say ? It's been a nasty week, I feel depressed, I have a hard-headed 20 month old who thinks he is king, and my jeans are falling down all the time. Basically I am feeling so incredibly grumpy. Not the sort of mental state to be in when you're dieting. Ah-ha... and that's the excuse for having a lovely dinner with Keith last week Wednesday at Via Conditto, and a nice creamy pasta yesterday at La Figa, and many glasses of wine, and some Jelly Beans from Jackie, and too many large meals in one day on Friday, and Starbucks biscotti's with my lattés, and a slice of cake on Wednesday for Chatterbox's birthday, on Thursday for Mum's Biblestudy AND a slice of Banoffee Pie at Couple's Biblestudy that evening. You wanna know how easy it is to chuck away your diet.
There ! I have just demonstrated.
ps. off travelling from 5 December '07 – 27 January '08. Thankfully all in warmer climes, so it will make for easier focus on fruit and salads.

74.5kgs - stagnating a bit
Well I should be patting myself on the back having lost a kilo BUT!... that was last week. This week I indulged on the weekend with puddings, wine and choccies. You know what you're doing to sabotage your diet, don't you ! ?
I ran to the station today which was a good feeling. I haven't pumped the legs and got somewhere out of breath in quite some time. I must do that more often.
I hope this'll be a better week. Focus! Focus! Focus!

75.5kgs - time to get back on the wagon
Time away in Scotland, followed by 11 days in South Africa. Drinking too much and not eating terribly regularly, can't have been good. But not as bad as I thought it might be - only a kilo or so heavier. I'm back on the regimen today - been looking at video clips of me as fatso in March and realise yet again that things must be done. I also need to get moving (have I said that before?), so exercise is a priority.

74kgs - back to where we were
Well, it's been a 3 week hiatus with Bank Holidays and the blues, so tonight I'm going to WW and stepping on the scale. Can't say I'm feeling super enthused at the moment, but I'm trying not to go crazy which is probably a starting point for most dieters. Had a lovely weekend of eating and drinking. But I'm trying to limit it to one crazy incident a day. If you have lunch and supper out on the weekends, then it's asking for trouble, as is too many glasses of wine.
I'm staring at my WW booklet and trying to get my head back to where it should be.
While my mum is here (starting wed for 3 weeks), I am going to have to police EVERYTHING we eat. I hope she can still have a holiday if I do.

75.9kgs - slip sliding away
Ah well, with Andy here I did a huge amount of walking every day, but we ate out regularly, and had Starbucks every day. I wasn't able to eat terribly healthily, altho' we did try and be good with our options. I'm back on the diet as of last night, and it's been OK today. I'm sure I'll get the weight off again in the next week or two. When mom gets here I'll need to be a control freak tho' and really tighten the belt. Thankfully it'll also mean I can run regularly. Tam is being v patient, with keith being away it's not easy to get out of here.

74kgs I am getting skiiiniii
Couldn't believe my little blue eyes when I checked the scale this evening - just before Weight Watchers. Can't say this has been the BEST week ever. I did have 2 or 3 glasses of white wine / champers, Starbucks full fat lattes, a biscotti and an apple cup-cake. Must try and stay on track in the next 10 days while Andy's here and I'm celebrating me' buthday.
Will run tomorrow for the first time in 3 1/2 months. Bring it on ! cough and all.

75.9kgs Yeah Baby Yeah
Well, I'm feeling pretty chuffed with myself. I've not had the best day today, but I felt great yesterday morning when I looked at the scale. Still struggling with the 'no bread' policy especially when I feed Zack three times a day. Ah well. Other weakness is wine on weekends. How do you avoid it ? One thing leads to the next, you're relaxing, you feel you deserve to let your hair down just ever-so-slightly... Hmmm...
Well, for now it's going well.
I still need to do some exercise tho'. I hope to get there this week.

77kgs and pleased to see
Well, it's only week 2 of the Weight Watchers regime. Andrew & Geraldine have been with us, so it hasn't been all plain sailing, but better than most. Have indulged a little - chocolate pud last wednesday night at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen (our treat with the Wallbanks). And then a few odds and ends over the weekend - a glass of wine, a biscuit - the usual suspects. Am finding it quite odd not eating bread (which is almost entirely excluded on the Core eating plan), but get my weatabix every morning so it's not like there's no carbs. Enjoying all the beans, chick peas, etc in my salads too. I hope i'll be down closer to 75kgs in 3 1/2 weeks time when Andy gets here. And by the time I go to Simon's wedding at the end of Sept I want to be down to 70kgs or near as ! A bit of a push, but I think it can be done.
Only challenge at the moment is exercise. I'm just not doing enough of it. Must find a way!
