83.4kgs - new batteries
I succumbed and bought a 9V battery for the scale. My weight is stable (boring), but if I cut alcohol and coffee out of my diet, it would make a massive difference. Chances of that happening are zero, but I could definitely make a change and reduce my intake.

worried. II
Still haven't bought batteries. Still curious. Jeans are still tight tho' and I feel gloomy when I look at the saggy roll I have around my middle. I've run a bit. I've cycled a bit. I even did my exercise DVD with the kids and spent an entire afternoon walking with Keith - I wasn't even stiff the next day. Depressing ! and fat
Keith is off for ten days now, and I'm motivated to make a change - lose weight while he's away. Kick start it all. I keep thinking - it would be so nice to just have some time off to get into a new regime - go to a health spa for 5 days. It isn't real life tho', is it ?!

curious
Still no batteries. I don't think I've lost any weight tho' and am curious about it. Have been thinking about getting some batteries just to weigh myself once, then taking them out again. I don't think I'm an addict anymore.
Now that it's summer, the urge and the opportunity to do more physical activity is here. My gym contract ends on the 30 of April so no more guilt there. I've asked a friend to run and need to set a date with her now. Get busy girlfriend!

hurrah. no batteries !
Going without batteries has been liberating !
Also, Tina has been away for two weeks so I'm run OFF my feet with kiddies, which is keeping the appetite at bay. A friend said I was fading away, which is encouraging - I want to get back to me :)

no idea - threw away the batteries
have been liberated. The scale ran out of batteries and I decided that weighing myself every 2nd day is very unhealthy. Haven't replaced the batteries! I feel like a new person.

mid life crises ?
Far too many friends seem to be going through what outsiders would term "midlife crises". Perhaps I'm starting to have one of my own ? I've been thinking alot about bodies, nutrition, exercise - the what and how of being a 40 year old woman. Age is a funny thing, parts of you forget how old you are, and other parts are determined to remind you that you are ageing. Lately I've had a few more aches and pains - fingers, chest, elbow, shoulder - nothing major, but more than in the past.
I'm also more and more aware of my body, how it's "settling" and spreading. I don't like my tyre and it is a tyre, but I know I can do something about it if I get exercising. It's half term this week which means both boys are going to be around all day Monday, Tues, and Wednesday. I would like to go swimming etc. so will need to prioritise that if I want to do it at all.
I need to go to the library and start reading about these things - finding out more. I picked up a book the other day called "the Optimum Nutrition Bible" by Patrick Holford. The problem when you're my age (and my personality type) is that you're suspicious of almost everything. So my next question is 'why is this guy?' and 'what does he want to sell?'
I also noticed a headline in a magazine recently that said that women my age want things that work, not fly by night, pie in the sky, fads and fibs. Very true - when said of me.
My problem is that I don't care ENOUGH. This doesn't worry me ENOUGH. If it did - I would do something about it.

fat betty hot footing it
I've decided to start running. Tuesdays from 4-5pm I hang around while Zack does Enjoy-a-Ball, so why not use that time to work out ? I'm always moaning about not getting to gym. Today I did about 40 minutes: 5 minute warm up, 2 min run, 2 min walk, 3 min run, 2 min walk, 2 min run, 10 minute walk back to the car. I'm hoping to do some more running on Thursday.

weak and strong
There are days (usually up until 4pm) when I feel strong and think I can endure and lose weight. Then there are days (from 4:30pm onwards) when I don't have the energy, couldn't care less, just want to have something to eat. Stop the grumbling tummy. I'm trying to reduce the carb intake drastically. Eat more veg and fruit. drink water. reduce my wine intake. Hmmm....

81kgs
Well I'm still fat, and I'm still struggling. I have felt so exhausted and low these past two months that I gave up on Weight Watchers. It's just too much pressure, on top of everything else that's going on in my life, to count calories. I'm lucky to eat breakfast most days, and some vegetables. So thought I'd just ease off until I get myself into more of a routine with Zack at school, Calvin at nursery, regular time at gym / cycling / jogging, and feeling more like myself. Sigh, it certainly has been a rough ride.

79.5kgs
Thursday is "weigh in" day at Weight Watchers. Hurrah. I lost 3lbs (1.12kgs) this week. That is good news as the weekend wasn't saintly, but I have been extra good the past few days. Tonight I will eat a filling meal as I've already eaten 1 1/2 chocolate cupcakes before 5pm... the prerogative of the chef I believe.

81.4kgs Bank Holiday and some
It's been a frustrating two weeks. First I was away with Keith in Bordeaux for two nights - eating and drinking at every meal. Then this Bank Holiday weekend away in Berkshire, more of the same but in less quantity thankfully. Being away from home makes it VERY hard to control your intake or what's on the table. I am just amazed at the complete lack of fruit and vegetables on offer in most establishments. You have to actively seek out vegetarian restaurants or those with large salad offerings. Annoying.
With my foot still swollen and sore after the fractured metatarsal my gym contract is useless and I can do very little in the way of exercise. Mostly I'm up and down the stairs or walking, but no more than that.

4lbs, that's 1.8kgs
Hurrah. Week one of WW and I am 4lbs lighter. That means that I have dropped down into the 12 stone range, which also means I get one point less to eat. I'm finding the discipline of weighing and measuring foods quite easy to slip back into. And it certainly feels good to be fitting into my trousers more easily. Not sure why, but I also feel like I've lost weight on my face which is always a nice thing. I still have a muffin tummy, but let's not rush things. In good time, this too will disappear. Positive about the next week, and preparing myself mentally for time away (and less control).

80.9kgs
vital statistics as at 12.5.2010
chest : 108cm
waist : 91cm ** interesting that THIS is where I'm fatter after 2nd child
hips : 117cm
arms : 35cm
thigh : 72cm
if the "last time" I did this is anything to go by (and I'm certainly hoping it is), I hope to lose most of the weight between now and the end of August 2010. I'll probably bob around a bit, but would like to reach the lower equilibrium weight by then. There are two challenges I'm facing now : 1) after dinner nibbling, and 2) not getting to gym/ running/ cycling

blonde joins Weight Watchers....
Took the bull by the horns last Thursday evening and walked across the road to join WW. it cost nothing - they were having a joining fee/first night free special :)
I have my file, my points calculator and I've been trying to stick to it faithfully this week. We're about to go to Day 5.
Whoops! Just one small complication: I opened the file and started reading at the points calculator, instead of at the front cover. I'm supposed to have started with a one week kick-off session which would have been a mere 18 points or so. Instead I've been happily munching my way through 25 points (or less) each day, because that's what the book gave me on their questionnaire. Tut tut. Next time : Read the instruction manual girlfriend.
I intend to do a full measure up/ weigh up post here. Just need to get my ducks in a line. Currently they're saying my MAX weight should be 71kgs. How wonderful that would be!

81.7kgs the end...
Started yesterday: no more 'letting go' and eating what I like or drinking. Cutting down on alcohol intake, cutting butter intake, cutting bread intake, eating lots of fruit and veg. More protein and lots more water. More yoghurt. Trying to increase calorie burning too - exercise. watch this space.

81.6kgs
Went to the Kickstart Session at the gym today. We discussed my goals, the programme, nutrition, and I'll go back tomorrow for the wrap-up. Only depressing thing is that the staff all seem so distracted, like there's something else they've got to do instead of helping you. I hope it's not all of them. It'll just take time I guess. In the end, it's up to me innit? Not them. Gotta get cracking

ain't been there
So much for joining the gym. I think I've been twice, maybe three times in 6 weeks. Sigh, it's a bit demoralising, but that's how it goes with little people. The last month has been very bad with birthday parties (Zack's lasted 4 days), oodles of baking, cold miserable weather, and not feeling the most bouncy. Today was the first real day of spring we've had, and I was outside in just a T-shirt. I am fat and my jeans feel tight. I don't care if horizontal stripes are supposed to make you look slimmer, I am still fat underneath them.
I gotta do something. Gotta !
